ROASTING HOUSE
Our roastery is located in Pyhtää, in the old Stockfors factory area, which is more of a hub for art and wellness events nowdays.
We are pioneering with an ecological roasting method. The beans are roasted in an environmentally friendly and modern electric coffee roaster. This process required a lot of practice and experimentation, but after many failures and testing, we managed to create something unique.
- We strive to improve the quality of life of everyone involved in our activities -
Coffee – We only use coffees that are carefully grown by small farmers. These farmers are fairly compensated for their work so that they can focus on quality over quantity. This also allows them to reduce the use of fertilizers and other land-consuming substances. All our coffees come from European Cafe Imports (https://www.cafeimports.com/europe/ourmission). In addition, we select minority farmers for our selection who improve community relations locally and share resources among themselves to improve local living standards.
Roastery – When building the roastery, we considered how the roasting process itself and
the packaging and other materials we use fit our values. The roastery is located in a small municipality of 5,000 inhabitants in Pyhtää. Despite its small size, Pyhtää produces a relatively large amount of electricity using hydroelectric power, the nearest of which is located about 20 meters from the roastery. For this reason, the roaster we use is also electric, although a gas roaster would be an easier choice. Our packaging materials and tape are suitable for paper waste. We also use completely plastic-free disposable cups made of pioneering cardboard in our operations (www.cupbio.fi)
Coffee packages – Why plastic? In terms of coffee shelf life, a coffee package is
must be able to be closed airtight. Alternatives include paper, plastic,
metal and biomass coffee packaging. However, all have plastic film
inside and are easily thrown away either as energy waste or mixed waste.
Our plastic packages are 100% recyclable and easy to separate into plastic waste.
These packages come from Dutch coffee pack and are CO2 compensated.

Stockfors Coffee Roasters strives to be completely transparent in its operations, and
As a symbol of this, the walls of the roastery are also made of glass.
